Valerie Valcourt Hargreaves passed away July 26, 2010 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. She was 76.
Val was born December 7, 1933 in Bergenfield, New Jersey to John Valcourt, Jr. and Hildegard Berger. Val was raised by her father and stepmother Myra Graham Valcourt.
She attended 23 schools by the 9th grade while traveling and living across the United States with her family. She graduated from Bergenfield High School where she attended all four years.
She married William (Bill) J. Hargreaves, Jr. on June 25, 1955 at All Saints Episcopal Church, Bergenfield, New Jersey.
Val was an avid Bridge, Mah Jongg, and Scrabble player and belonged to numerous groups and had many friends that she played and socialized with.
She was a volunteer at the Denver International Airport for over 13 years in the Traveler’s Assistance Program (TAP), helping travelers from around the world find their way around the airport and Denver.
She was a member of St Timothy’s Episcopal Church and the Ladies Out to Lunch Bunch.
Val is survived by her husband Bill of Littleton; her daughters Kellie Hargreaves of Longmont, CO, Kim Lamoreaux of Centennial, CO; Kyle Eledge of Council Bluffs, IA; 3 sisters Renee Stark (Tom) of Roswell, GA, Nanette Mercer (Fred) of Sebring, FL, Vicki Helms of Mesquite, TX; one brother John “Lucky” Valcourt, III (Marti) of Panama City, FL; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 1401 E. Dry Creek Road, Centennial, CO, 80122, Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or St Timothy’s Episcopal Church.
