Paul R. Barnett, 95, was born in Iberia, Missouri to C. Lilburn and Stella Barnett. He is survived by his wife Frances, daughter Louise Rainey of Albany, NY, sons, Frank (Susan) of Cheyenne, WY and Charles R. (partner Thomas) of Wheat Ridge, 4 grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Becker of Chicago, IL, HIlary Rainey of Albany, NY, Charles W. Barnett of Lakewood, Amanda (Brian) Phillips of Denver, great-grandsons Zachary Becker, February 22, 2008 and Michael Phillips, July 7, 2010.

He married Frances July 27, 1939. While teaching at Flagler, CO High School, Paul entered into Active Duty in the Army Air Corps on Sept. 6, 1943. He served in the Asiatic Pacific in New Guinea, Luzon and many other bases for 2 1/2 years as a Captain in the 5th Air Force, 15th Weather Squadron. After WWII he and Frances and daughter Louise settled in Denver where he was employed briefly at United Airlines as an instructor in meteorology. Having a degree in chemistry he joined the USGS as a water resources chemist in 1948 and built a home in Lakewood to raise his 3 children, where Frances still resides. Paul retired in 1976 and took up many activities including cycling, politics, participating in the Senior Olympics and woodworking.

A memorial for family and friends will be July 29th, 10:45am at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
